ABOUT THE PARK: Saint Edward State Park

Saint Edward State Park is a 316-acre day-use park with sprawling lawns and forested trails, all set around impressive, Romanesque Revival style brick buildings of a former Catholic Seminary. Situated in Kenmore, the Park is a quiet haven in the midst of the urban bustle. At Saint Edward, you’ll find a pleasant picnic area, well-groomed trails through the woods to the shore of Lake Washington and a charming garden alcove for reflection.

Saint Edward State Park is the largest remaining undeveloped area on Lake Washington. Those who take the time to hike the trails may enjoy 3.000 feet of shoreline and many species of birds, animals, plants and trees.

Special recreational facilities at the Park include an Olympic-size pool for swimming, as well as courts for tennis, handball and racketball, and fields for soccer, baseball and volleyball. Small, casual groups of users are welcome anytime. In addition, a full-size gymnasium and meeting rooms are available for rent.

Centennial 2013- Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission celebrates 100 years and prepares for a second century
In 2003, the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission constructed a plan to prepare for the state park system's 100th birthday in 2013 and a second century of service to citizens. To guide preparations, the Commission adopted the Centennial 2013 Vision:

"In 2013, Washington's state parks will be premier destinations of uncommon quality, including state and regionally significant natural, cultural, historical and recreational resources that are outstanding for the experience, health, enjoyment and learning of all people."

The Centennial 2013 Plan is intended to focus agency staff, citizen volunteers, organizations and state policy-makers on a common goal. The plan includes three priorities and a call to action to citizens:
