Kulshan Brewing

- by Kendall Jones, Washington Beer Blog -

Just north of downtown, in Bellingham’s Sunnyland neighborhood, you will find the home of Kulshan Brewing, which opened in the spring of 2012. Kulshan’s IPA was an immediate hit around Bellingham, especially at a local pub called the Copper Hog. The night Kulshan IPA was released, thirsty patrons at “the Hog” guzzled their way through a keg in just a few hours. Since that auspicious start, Kulshan has endeared itself to the neighborhood. The taproom is regularly full of people drinking tasters and pints, and filling growlers to go.

Brewmaster and owner, Dave Vitt started his brewing career as a home brewer in Bellingham. Eventually that led him to a job at Fish Brewing in Olympia, where he worked for several years. Kulshan Brewing is the realization of his dream to build his own brewery from the ground up.

The taproom at Kulshan is large and friendly. It is bright and cheery. Just beer, no kitchen. Your children are welcome in the large outer room but not at the bar. You’ll often find a food truck parked out front or you can order takeout from any of the local restaurants.
