PNA Winter Beer Taste celebrates 30th anniversary
November 6, 2017 - 10:17 AM- by Kendall Jones, Washington Beer Blog -
Each year the Phinney Neighborhood Association hosts a winter beer festival. They've been doing it for a long time. In fact, this year marks the 30th Annual PNA Winter Beer Taste. To the best of my knowledge, the event commonly referred to as "The PNA" is the longest-running beer festival in Washington.
To commemorate the big anniversary, event organizers partnered with six local breweries to produce special collaboration beers for the event. Descriptions of the beers are listed below. Of course, in addition to those beers they'll serve a whole bunch of others. In all, nearly 40 breweries will pour at the event.
The PNA takes place Saturday, November 11th at the Phinney Center in Seattle. For complete event details, including a complete list of breweries, and to secure your tickets, visit https://www.phinneycenter.org/calendar/winter-beer-taste17/.
The PNA Collaboration Beer:
Georgetown Brewing – Chardell Chocovfefe Stout - A full bodied sessionable stout made with cold brew coffee from Cafe Umbria and cold conditioned on chocolate nibs from Theo's to give this beer a rich coffee aroma that's laced with a chocolate essence that's not overwhelming, but gives a nice rounded roasted and nutty finish. 4.7% ABV.
Flying Bike Brewing and Naked City Brewery – Saint Phinnyus – An Abbey-Style Spice Winter Warmer. Big, fat, soft, round, and mysterious, like Santa. 8.7% 40 IBU
Populuxe Brewing – PNA Porter - Brewed specifically for the winter beer taste with members of the PNA Beer Committee, this Robust Porter is rich and complex. Dark malt flavors of chocolate and coffee with a touch of sweet, dried fruit. The perfect pint for a crisp winter day. Come taste the blood, sweat and tears of your Neighborhood Association! 5.6% ABV, 26 IBU
Reuben’s Brews - Haze in the Hood - Big fruit forward nose with citrus notes from hops and the addition of orange zest (zested by committee, all on a soft juicy body. 8% ABV and 50 IBUs.
Rooftop Brewing – Ridge Spice Saison (with herbs from committee gardens on the ridge).
