The Beers of Spokane Oktoberfest

Will you be there? It is not too late! The big event starts today and runs through tomorrow. I'm talking about Spokane Oktoberfest, of course.  The event, now in its second year, takes place at Riverfront Park in downtown Spokane on Friday, September 23rd and Saturday, September 24th. visit the official website at www.washingtonbeer.com/oktoberfest

Here is the list of beers that will be poured at this year's festival:

C.I Shenanigans
Spokane
1) Oktoroboto
Malty, slightly sweet,nutty aroma, dark copper colored , moderate hopping, weighing in at about 6% abv.
2) Total Disorder Porter
Dark, chocolate notes along with toffee, nice body, easy drinkin. This one is 5%abv.

Diamond Knot Brewery
Mukilteo
1) IPA
Copper-colored with a malty character up front. Intensely bitter with hints of grapefruit and cedar imparted by heavy-handed additions of Galena and Columbus hops. 6.2% ABV
2) Vienna
Our answer to Oktoberfest! Reddish amber in color, this ale has a bright, crisp flavor with a complex malty body. Domestic Hallertauer hops lend a slightly spicy, herbal finish 5.8% ABV

Elysian Brewing Company

1) Dragonstooth Stout
The name is referential to the founders of Thebes, warriors who sprang from the earth when the teeth of a slain dragon were sown by Cadmus. Made with 10% rolled oats, roasted barley, Crystal, Munich and chocolate malts. Bittered with Magnum, finished with Cascade and Centennial hops. Starting gravity 20° Plato (1.080), alcohol 6.2% by weight, 7.45% by volume. 60 IBU.
2) Bifrost Winter Ale
Named for the mythical bridge connecting the mortal world to the heavens. Brewed with pale malt and small amounts of Munich and Crystal malts. Bittered with Simcoe and finished with Amarillo, East Kent Goldings and Styrian Goldings hops. Starting gravity 7.6% by volume. 58 IBU
3) Night Owl Pumpkin Ale
Brewed with over 7 lbs. of pumpkin per barrel. Made with Pale, Munich and Crystal malts, green and roasted pumpkin seeds, and pumpkin in the mash, boil and fermenter. Bittered with Magnum hops. Spiced in conditioning with nutmeg, clove, cinnamon, ginger and allspice. Starting gravity 14.9°Plato (1.060) alcohol 4.6% by weight, 5.9% by volume. 18 IBU

1) Universale Pale Ale
Universale offers a distinctive Northwest twist on the classic pale ale, using a select blend of pale roasted malt and Old World malts balanced with classic Northwest hops to achieve a heavenly beer of rich malt flavor and hop spice. This is beer. Enjoy.
Down and Dirty: 2-row barley, crystal malt, melanoidin, aromatic malt, Columbus, Centennial and Cascade hops. ABV: 5.6%
2) Interurban India Pale Ale
Named after Fremont’s most famous outdoor sculpture, Interurban offers the adventurous beer lover a warm embrace of roasted pale malt swirled with a hand-selected blend of flavor malts and filled with the rich spice of Chinook, Centennial and Amarillo hops. Interurban is a session beer, eminently drinkable throughout the year. Down and Dirty: 2-row barley, crystal malt, munich malt, aromatic malt, Chinook, Centennial, Amarillo hops.
ABV: 6.2%
3) Wandering Wheat
Wandering Wheat is an invigorating unfiltered ale with a sweet, bready taste, subdued hoppiness and trademark cloudy appearance. Try Wandering Wheat with an orange slice for a unique twist...Because Beer Matters.
Down and Dirty: Wheat, 2-row barley, Belgian Aromatic, Flaked Wheat & Sterling Hops with Fremont House Yeast. ABV: 4.5%
4) Harvest Ale
Harvest Ale is our offering for this time between here and there, a Fall beer with fruit and bread aromas and white wine notes reminiscent of apricots and apple. Harvest Ale finishes dry and crisp. Fall into a Harvest Ale today, you won’t be disappointed. Unfettered by spices.
Down & Dirty: Two-row barley, white wheat, Citra hops.
ABV: 6.5%

1) Manny's Pale Ale
A careful selection of Northwest hops, premium barley, and our unique yeast give this ale a rich and complex malty middle with a snappy hop finish. It's truly a micro that finishes crisp, clean, and smooth. 5.2% ABV
2) Tomtoberfest
Tomtoberfest: Oktoberfest-style amber lager brewed with 2-row Pilsner, Munich, Caramel and Black Malt. Imported Hallertau Hersbrucker hops and Bavarian lager yeast combine to make this Georgetown brew as German-like as possible. Nutty and malty with a dry, clean finish. 1) Clem's Gold
A full bodied gold lager. Clem's has an Octoberfest-like malt character with a finish drier than most pilsners. ABV of 5.0% and 21 IBU's.
2) Lizzy's Lager
A red lager. Vienna-like malt character and a crisp dry finish. 5.3% ABV and 35 IBU's.
3) Ben's Brown
A dark lager with a complex malt character. 4.5% ABV and 20 IBU's. A very mild drinkable dark beer.
4) Em's Easy
A lighter version of Clem's. Marzen-like malt character and a dry finish. 4.0% ABV and 16 IBU's.

Made with White Sorghum and Cascade Hops.
3) Okanagan Highlander
The OKANAGAN HIGHLANDER is amber in color, a malty and full-bodied beer. The hop bitterness is very low.

1) Copperfest
Copperfest (Fall Seasonal: Oktoberfest) 4.5% abv
Made in an Oktoberfest style this beer utilizes both Munich and pilsner malts. With a light splash of cluster hops this beer focuses on a nutty, malty flavor. The result is a beer with a true German beer flavor, very approachable and big time drinkability with a crisp and clean finish. Available: September-November
2) Chocolate Dunkel
Chocolate Dunkel(German Style Dark Ale) 6.5% abv
The Chocolate Dunkel is brewed with generous amounts of Crystal, Munich, and Chocolate malt to create a rich and malty beer that has been a longtime staple at the brewery. Not true to any single style of beer, this ale is similar to American brown porters, old ales of England, and dark lagers of Germany. This ale shows an aroma and taste fig, caramel, toffee, and milk chocolate. The dunkel finishes slightly sweet, with hints of roasted barley.
3) IPA
IPA (Northwest Style India Pale Ale) 7.0% abv
This big, bold, and copper colored ale showcases a big sweet malt body contrasted against a substantial hop presence that is evident from your first smell of this beer. Five kettle additions of hops (using Cluster, Palisade, and Cascade) and significant dry-hopping with Warrior hops give this beer plenty of hop aroma and flavor.
4) Crystal Bitter
Crystal Bitter (ESB/American Amber Hybrid Ale) 5.5% abv
This hybrid ale has elements of English, German, and American brewing techniques and ingredients. It was also the first beer brewed by Northern Lights Brewery. This ale shows a burgundy color from generous portions of Crystal malts, and Munich malt that are balanced with Palisade and Cascade hops. A complex aroma of hops and malt continues on the palate and combines with an assertive bitterness for a beer with a multi-dimensional taste.

1) Midnight Wheat
A delightful Dunkel Weizen Ale using a combination of Wheat, Vienna and Munich malts with the right balance of Chinook hops for an exceptional fall season beer. ABV 5%
2) Crimson Pride

A traditional Oktoberfest style beer that has been lagering since spring. This beautiful copper colored complex malty beer gives subtle flavors of brown sugar on the sides of the tongue which are nicely balanced with a hint of bitterness on the finish. Drinking more than one is recommended. 5.6 ABV.
2) Vienna
Our amber colored Vienna style lager highlights the flavors of some of the best biscuit malts available to the craft brewer. The initial delicate malty sweetness finishes remarkably dry leaving the pallet yearning for another sip. At 5% ABV this could be an all afternoon delight.
3) Dirty Blonde
Our hugely successful blonde ale isn’t short on flavor yet goes down remarkably easy. This session beer will prove to you that blondes do have more fun.
6.1% ABV will make you feel dirty too after a few!
