Perhaps your contemplating a trip to Ireland. If so, here's something you should know. Actually, it's kind of interesting regardless of your travel plans.

Guinness is welcoming the public to join the Wizard behind the curtain. Willy Wonka is inviting the public into the Chocolate Factory. Guinness is opening The Open Gate Brewery to the public.

Since 1759, St. James’s Gate in Dublin has been the home of Guinness. Shrouded in mystery, there has been an experimental brewery at St. James’s Gate for over a hundred years. Here Guinness’ brewers are given license to explore new recipes, reinterpret old ones and experiment freely to bring new beers to life.

For the first time in its history, Guinness is opening its doors to the general public and introducing the world to its brewers and its home of experimentation and innovation. The Open Gate Brewery will begin welcoming visitors in early December.

At The Open Gate Brewery, beer lovers will be able to sample some of the latest innovations, such as Guinness Nitro IPA, Hop House 13 Lager, Guinness Dublin Porter, Guinness West Indies Porter, and other small-batch beers. A selection of other new Guinness beers from around the globe, which until now have never been available under one roof, will also be available exclusively to visitors at The Open Gate Brewery.

Guinness Brewer Peter Simpson said, “We feel extremely lucky to work in The Open Gate Brewery because my fellow brewers and I are given free rein to regularly explore and create new beers in small batches.

“There is huge interest in beer nowadays so it’s exciting to open the doors to the public, give people a look inside our world, and of course share some batches of experimental beers that we are working on.”
