Special Collab Beer for the WA Brewers Fest: 5 for 10 Summer Session Ale
June 15, 2015 - 11:13 AM- by Kendall Jones, Washington Beer Blog -
I might be alone, but I hereby declare this to be Washington Beer Week: the week leading up to Washington's largest beer festival. The 10th Annual Washington Brewers Festival happens this weekend (Friday thru Sunday) at Marymoor Park in Redmond, with 105 Washington breweries pouring almost 500 different beers.
There's a way for you to get a sneak preview. Kind of. Five breweries collaborated to make one special beer for the festival's 10th Anniversary: 5 for 10 Summer Session Ale. Kegs have been delivered, look for it on tap around town right now, and it will also be available at this weekend's festival (tickets available online).
And while I have your attention, I should mention that getting your tickets in advance will save you some time by virtue of express entry for ticket holders, which will allow you to pass right on by all those folks who are buying tickets at the gate.
Also, for those of you who are not yet WABL members, it's not too late to join the club and reap the benefits. As a member of Washington Beer Lovers (WABL), you'll get perks at the festival, including access to the WABL Lounge, where they'll pour special, members-only beers. Learn more about WABL here.

Representatives from each brewery involved in the collaboration project serve on the Washington Beer Commission's Festival Committee: Beardslee Public House, Diamond Knot Brewing, Elysian Brewing, Fremont Brewing, and Two Beers Brewing. The five breweries collaborated on the beer, which was brewed at Two Beers Brewing.
5 for 10 Summer Session Ale clocks in at 4.8% ABV and 55 IBUs. Hops used: Simcoe, Citra, Belma, Galena, El Dorado, Cascade, Chinook.
At the festival, the beer will flow at the Two Beers Brewing tent as well as the WABL tent. Below is a list of locations where you can expect to find the beer in the meantime:
Malt & Vine
Flat sick Pub
Normandy Park Ale House
Deluxe Bar & Grill
Diamond Knot @ MLT
Red Hot (Tacoma)
Copper Door (Tacoma)
Also 2 kegs went to each of the 5 BevMo’s in the Puget Sound region.
