A hard-hitting, beast of a beer - Yeast Mode

Let's talk football and beer. Even if you're not a football fan, most local beer fans know about the two local not-necessarily-NFL-approved Seahawks beers: The 12th Can by Hilliard's Beer and the 12 Man Pale Ale by Dick's Brewing. Both of those beers pay homage to the Seattle Seahawks' fans, designed to quench the thirst of the vociferous 12th man. Both are classified as session pale ale, weighing in at less than five-percent alcohol by volume. These flavorful, relatively low alcohol beers were designed to accommodate long drinking sessions at the expense of raw, inebriate impact.
But what the local beer scene is missing is a brew that carries as much boom as the Seahawks' crushing defense and as much power as the Seahawks' punishing halfback, Marshawn Lynch.
By now, most people are aware that the Seahawks' earthquake-inducing, Skittle-munching running back is nicknamed Beast Mode. Today, Spinnaker Bay Brewing announces the upcoming release of its Overboard™ Barleywine, which the brewery also refers to a Yeast Mode™. Don't let the name fool you, Barleywine is just a very, very strong type of beer. Wine has nothing to do with it.
Here is the announcement from Spinnaker Bay Brewing.
"Spinnaker Bay Brewing is already known for strong, well balanced, full bodied beer," says Janet Spindler, brewery/owner at Seattle's Spinnaker Bay Brewing. "We will be releasing Overboard ™ (also known as Yeast Mode™) Barley Wine on January 29th in honor of our Seahawks going to (and winning) the Super Bowl. Beast Mode will be copper colored, moderately hopped, well balanced and boozy. ABV will be 12.5%- 13%. This will be a limited release as we intend to stash a few kegs for later releases as it ages. Available in our taproom only with limit of 2. Sorry, no growler fills."
