Stoup Brewing

November 24, 2013 - 8:40 AM
Brad Benson, Lara Zahaba, and Robyn Schumacher teamed up to bring a dream to life: Stoup Brewing. Brad is a chemist turn brewer. He holds a degree in chemistry, and describes himself as a chemist, but has brewed both recreationally and professionally. Lara is a veteran of the wine industry who finally decided to abandon the dark side. Robyn is a former teacher turned cicerone (beer sommelier). Since October of 2013, the three have turned their full attention to operating the brewery and tasting room in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood.

About the name: Stoup  is a noun. It does not refer to the front porch of a house or apartment, but is pronounced the same. There are three definitions. Which one does the name reference? Take your pick. 1) A basin or font for holy water at the entrance of a church. 2) A drinking vessel, such as a cup or tankard. 3) A bucket or pail.

You will find Stoup Brewing in Ballard on 52nd Street Northwest, near the corner of 52nd and 11th Avenue.
